SCHOOL STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

SCHOOL STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT  SCC#001
School, in pursuance of the policies as per the student charter and as detailed in the  prospectus and home  agreement, seeks to achieve its objectives within an agreed ‘Student Code of Conduct’. If there is evidence that students have breached or broken the student Code of Conduct, the ‘Student Disciplinary Procedure’ will be used.
(You can obtain a full copy of the ‘Student Disciplinary Procedure’ from the  manager or Branch Head)
Misconduct is behavior that:
• interferes with the safe functioning of the  or of those who study, work or teach in the ,

or

• otherwise damages the  or its reputation, and

or

• constitutes a criminal offence
In the event of a serious breach, criminal misconduct, or where it is believed that the health, safety or welfare of others may be jeopardized by the continuing presence of a person or persons they will be suspended or withdrawn from the  admissions register immediately.
In relation to the core activity of teaching and learning, students are expected to:
• adopt a diligent and co-operative approach to all aspects of academic life

and

• accept responsibility in creating a supportive educational community in which everyone can self manage their learning.
Throughout their period of involvement with the School, students are expected to abide by the student code of conduct which is based upon respect for individuals, teachers, management, race, culture, religion, background, property and the environment.
The following actions, whether occurring on /college premises or elsewhere, are examples of conduct which is not acceptable in School and may lead to instigation of formal disciplinary procedures:
• Conduct which constitutes a criminal offence e.g. assault, theft, fraud, deceit, deception or dishonesty.
• Plagiarism, Violent, indecent, disorderly, threatening, abusing, intimidating or offensive behavior or language towards any student, teacher or member of administration and management
• Social, racial or any other form of harassment.
• Misuse, misappropriation, theft or damage of /college property.
• Action, likely to cause injury or to impair Health and safety procedures.
• Action, likely to cause injury or to impair electrical, gas and fire safety procedures.
• Failure to respect the rights of others to freedom of belief and freedom of speech.
• Behavior which brings the Institution into disrepute. E.g. such conduct as abusive, anti-social or discourteous behavior , inconsiderate noise or parking, disregard of the  parking code, causing litter and especially criminal damage to private property,  signs or vehicles.
• Disruption of, or improper interference with, the academic, administrative, sporting, social or other activities of the /college.
• Obstruction of, or improper interference with, the functions, duties or activities of any student, member of staff, or visitor of the Institution.
• Misuse or unauthorized use of  premises.
• Failure to disclose personal details to a member of staff of School in circumstances in which it is reasonable to require that such information be given.
• Breaches of any codes or regulations adopted by the Institution (e.g. Library or ICT room learning regulations).
• Students found violating the  study time table shall be dealt with firmly.
• Students found not wearing the  authorized uniform shall be dealt with firmly.
• Students must always show respect to the teachers, faculty members, members of  administration and management
• Students must not interfere in the functioning and conduct of the morning assembly presentations and national anthem
• Students must not cheat in examinations, assignments or in course work.
• Students must respect the property of other people and that of the  and its premises.
• Students must not bring illegal substances onto  premises.
• Smoking is not permitted within  buildings, premises and parking areas and is dealt with firmly may lead to withdrawal from the admissions register without further notice
• Students must not bring the reputation of the  into disrepute through anti-social behaviour either on or off  premises.
• Students must abide by reasonable instructions issued by a member of the  staff or administration.
• Mobile phones are not allowed and must be turned off in all areas at all times within the  premises and buildings.
• Female students must not wear heels, jewellery, bangles, nail polish, earrings, fancy accessories and other ornaments within the /college premises
• Male students must not wear cap, hat, unauthorized belt, bandana, boots and other fancy accessories within the  premises
• Individuals bringing vehicles, cars, motorcycles onto  premises must observe parking and speed restrictions and drive with care and consideration for others.
• Individuals must abide by the IT Code of Practice.

Behavior that contravenes the City Grammar‘Student Code of Conduct‘ will be dealt with through the ‘Student Disciplinary Procedure’. Any conduct that constitutes misconduct against the ‘Student code of conduct’ will be regarded as a breach of the ‘Student Code of Conduct’ and will be subject to firm action by the  administration or Branch Head, which may lead to withdrawal from the admissions register without further notice
Rules at
1.     Punctuality is of utmost importance at  SCHOOL.  starts at 8:20 am for Classes Transition – X.
2.     Pupils arriving after 8:30 am will be allowed in, but will be charged a fine of Rs 100/- per late-coming per child with the fee payment.
Regular attendance is of prime significance. Whenever a child misses  on account of unavoidable circumstances, parents should not expect the teachers to go over the lessons missed when the child returns. Going over the lessons with the absent pupil depends upon the free time available to the teacher during the games and art periods or after .
1.     In case a child is sick with a minor illness, the  office should be informed.
2.     A written application must be sent with the child when he/she returns.
3.     In case of prolonged illness or when a child is suffering from a disease, a medical certificate will be required along with the written application.
4.     In case of an infectious disease, the doctor should certify that the contagious period is over.
5.     Applications for longer leaves in case of vacations, family weddings and other personal matters will have to be approved by the  management beforehand.
6.     Attendance  in  event and trips is compulsion.
Missed work
1.     In case of long absences in Classes Transition to IV, getting the missed out work covered will not be the sole responsibility of the . Though we will facilitate, it will be the parents’ responsibility to copy out the work from the classwork and homework diaries. For senior classes, the students themselves will be responsible for completion of missed out work.
2.     In case of long absence in  Montessori or kindergarten the parents are to hand over the child’s bag so that the copies can be taken and given for the work to be done  .

Uniform
3.     The uniform will be available in the market. Students are expected to come neatly dressed in the prescribed uniform.
4.     Girls are not allowed to wear jewellery (except simple ear studs) or fancy hair accessories. All forms of make-up are prohibited.
5.     Boys are not allowed to wear chains, lockets,fancy belts  or rings etc.
6.     Girls with long hair must keep it tied back and only white or black barrettes or bands etc. may be used.
7.     Boys’ hair must be short, well-groomed and off the collar. To deal with violations, a barber will be called to  twice a month and the haircut charged.
8.     Wrist watches are allowed from IV onwards. Children should not wear expensive watches as the  will not be responsible for the loss of valuables.
Hygiene
1.     Children are required to come to  in clean clothes and undergarments, clipped nails, brushed teeth and clean ears.
2.     The  conducts regular hygiene checks on students.
3.     Head lice is considered to be a serious health problem and a child will be required to stay home until he or she is completely free of it.
4.     Students are not allowed  to come with oil on their hair .
Early pick
1.     Parents are required to inform the  office in advance in writing or though a phone call if a child is to be picked during  hours.
2.     An early pick-up slip will have to be signed by the person coming to collect the child.
3.     If new ayahs, driver or others are to come to collect the child, written permission from the parents must be submitted.


Stay back
During the course of the year, there may be occasions e.g. rehearsals and practice sessions when pupils are required to stay back and will be asked to bring snacks and lunch from home. All lunch boxes/disposable bags should be clearly marked with the pupil’s name and class.
Discipline
1.     Our children are generally well-behaved and accept responsibility for their actions. They are trained to use the  facilities e.g. furniture, science / sports equipment and library books carefully. However, a fine will be charged for deliberate damage to stationery, equipment or  property.
2.     When classroom,  or playground rules are not followed, or when class assignments are incomplete or missing, the teacher will talk to the student about the problem. The student will serve detention during recess and the games period, and may be asked to do extra work. If the assigned work is not completed during  hours, the student will have to stay back after . The  will not call the parents in such situations and the vehicle will have to wait till the work is completed.
3.     Extreme cases of misconduct will be reported to the parents and the following measures will be taken (the level of the seriousness of the act will be determined by the principal in consultation with the  faculty).
4.     The student will undergo in-house suspension during which he / she will be separated from the class and placed under the supervision of academic coordinators. He / she will be assigned additional work during recess or after  and excluded from games and activity periods.
5.     Upon completion of the in-house suspension period, the student will be placed on probation which means that the student will be allowed to rejoin his / her class. Exclusion from recess, games and activity periods will however continue. In this period, his / her academic performance and behavior will be closely monitored.
6.     If a student fails to show an improvement in behavior after these measures, he / she will be suspended from  for a specified number of days and a warning letter issued.
7.     Any act of indiscipline after the issuance of three warnings will be dealt with seriously and may lead to expulsion from .
Late fee payment
In case the   fee is not paid by the due date, late payment charges will be applicable. A circular regarding rates will follow. No payment at  except security is refundable.
First aid
1.     SCHOOL  is equipped to deal with minor health problems like colds, fevers etc. or with bruises, cuts and pain caused by minor accidents during  hours.
2.     In case of emergency, parents will be contacted immediately.
3.     Minor cuts and injuries at home should be looked into by parents so that the child is not with the nurse in the early part of the day
Celebrating Birthday Party
1.     Birthday parties can be celebrated at  on request. The  office should be informed of the party at least one day in advance. Parents are required to bring the eatables and giveaways for the child’s class. The party is held during recess and is supervised by  staff. The giveaways are distributed at homegoing time.
2.     If a birthday party is to be celebrated at the house, invitations may be distributed in  only when all children in the class are invited. Distribution of invitations from  is not allowed otherwise. This rule is enforced to prevent the children left out from being upset. The list of children in class can be made available by the  office.
Emergency measure
A crisis management team consisting of senior students and teachers reviews arrangements to cope with situations arising out the emergencies like fire, earthquake or bomb threat. Evacuation drills involving all the children are carried out at random.
General
Please ensure that:
1.     Your child does not carry any surplus/prohibited items such as toys, eatables (like , bubble gums etc.), fancy stationery items, CD’s, magazines or cash in his/her bag.
2.     Mobile phone, IPods, Walkmans or similar items are not brought to  (such devices will be confiscated if found in the possession of a student.)
3.     Your child’s homework diary and tests are signed regularly.
4.     Test preparation is up to the mark.
5.     The child’s text books are clear of any notes or tick marks when being helped at home with home assignments or test preparation.
6.     All correction work and other work or notes missed during absences is duly completed.
7.     Copy books borrowed for photocopying missed out work/notes are returned the same day before the end of .
8.     You do not engage the teacher in a conversation at home-going time, as she has to look after the children.
9.     All messages to the  office are conveyed well before dispersal time.
